Houston Landscapes Ltd. is seeking a Landscaping Supervisor/Assistant Foreman for its location in North Vancouver, BC. It’s a full-time (40 hours per week), permanent position, $30.00/hour paid on a bi-weekly basis. Overtime compensation is based on the current BC Employment Standards Act (1.5 times the regular wage paid if the daily hours exceed 8 hours or the weekly hours exceed 40 hours).

Job duties:
• Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of ground maintenance workers;
• Assign duties to the workers and train and mentor new employees;
• Oversee and assist in the planning and constructing landscaped environments, including all ornamental trees, shrubs, flowers, lawns and softscape features;
• Oversee and assist in the planting residential and commercial lawns and gardens;
• Oversee and assist in the installation of paving stone patios, walkways, driveways, ponds and water features and in the installation of flagstone and other natural stone patios, walkways, and pool decks;
• Oversee and assist in the installation of Retaining Wall systems, including Allan Block, Drystack Basalt, Pisa, and 4x6 Pressure Treated Wood;
• Organize and oversee the excavation of sites and grades;
• Layout sites using laser levels and other equipment;
• Repair and maintain landscape equipment and ensure all safety standards are upheld at all times.

Requirements:
• Must have completed high school;
• Must have a valid drivers license and be comfortable driving Tractor and Pick-up truck;
• Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Ground Maintenance Worker or Landscaper;
• Must have the ability to supervise 5 10 people;
• Must have an understanding of plant material, soil types, irrigation systems, pest control, and landscape construction methods;
• Must be willing to work in all weather conditions. Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Standing for extended periods, Bending, crouching, kneeling;
• Must be Team player, Client focus, Excellent oral communication;
• Must be able to speak, read and write in English;
