Job Description

Senior Network Engineer needs 7 years of Enterprise Support experience preferred.
Senior Network Engineer requires:
• Bachelor’s in computer science or equivalent work experience required
• 7 years of Enterprise Support experience preferred.
• Knowledge of procurement rules and regulations preferred
• Knowledge of a broad range of relevant multi-user computer systems, applications, and/or equipment required
• Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise preferred
• Knowledge of federal copyright laws as they pertain to the use of computer software required
• Knowledge of computer security procedures and protocol required
• Knowledge of Cisco products preferred
• Knowledge of routing protocol, including an understanding of OSPF and BGP Palo Alto firewall and Zscaler experience preferred
• Knowledge of test platforms, including evaluation of test equipment and design test networks required
• Have familiarity with the method used to easily compare installation performance against established performance objectives required
Extensive knowledge with all Cisco products
• Experience with switch operation and configuration, including VLAN creation and administration and an understanding of spanning-tree operation
• Routing protocol experience, including an understanding of OSPF and EIGRP
• Extensive knowledge of test platforms, including evaluation of test equipment and design test networks;
Senior Network Engineer duties:
• Identify opportunities and recommend solutions for improving service efficiency and effectiveness; participate in IT initiatives to address service issues keeping abreast of technical aspects of the PC-LAN/ WAN computing environment;
• Monitor performance and availability of LAN/WAN platforms and help configure, install, and maintain necessary LAN/WAN hardware and software to run production applications and to perform development
• Implement network architectures, including LAN-to-WAN, LAN-to-LAN, and WAN-to-WAN communications
• Follow procedures for LAN/WAN administration (e.g., security, reliability)
• Participate in tool and vendor evaluations
