Quality Assurance & Testing Manager - for top tier global law firm in Washington, DC. **This is a hybrid position with some in office work. This role is responsible for establishing/enforcing the framework, and standards for technical and non-technical review/testing/validation of technology solutions. This role works closely with IT leadership, delivery teams and leads, and cross-functional stakeholders to support testing disciplines as standard solution delivery process.
Duties: Oversees the development and enforcement of quality assurance strategies and testing standards for new software, systems, products throughout development / product life cycles (technical and nontechnical testing). Enforces quality standards during testing phases, observes compliance with defined exit criteria for test validation, and coordinates environment promotions with cross-functional technical stakeholders. Ensures technology quality measures comply with regulatory and industry standards. Conducts analysis of technical and functional requirements for new software, systems, and products under deployment to determine intended functionality and interoperability. Develops testing standards for change control processes and guidelines for new and existing technologies, together with Solution Delivery and Service Management leadership. Works with IT leadership to establish defined exit criteria and certification standards that promote consistent delivery of technology solutions. Establishes standard roles and supporting artifacts for testing and trains internal / 3rd party resources on how to use them. Owns testing deliverables and activities for high criticality projects. Applies established metrics to determine the readiness and operability of software, systems, and products due for release. Conducts internal audits to measure and assure adherence to established QA standards for software development, system design, application integration, information system performance. Cultivates and disseminates knowledge of quality assurance best practices. Assists with managing quality assurance and testing aspects of projects and interdependencies to ensure milestone adherence and measurement and integrity of each release. Assists IT Project Managers and engineering team members in testing activities, providing guidance on non-technical testing plans, scope, and structure. Ensures that a detailed deployment and contingency (back-out) plans are documented for each deployment (as part of the overall technical change management process). Leads the evaluation, justification, and selection of automated test tools and data collection tools. Conducts research on leading test management practices and tools and technologies landscape to justify recommendations and support purchasing decisions and/or optimization efforts. Maintains the ongoing Quality Assurance and Testing budget required for achieving established strategic objectives.
Position Requirements: College degree ideal, master’s degree is preferred. Appropriate technical certification(s) are ideal. Seven years of relevant experience, ideally in a large law firm setting. Proven experience overseeing design, packaging, testing, and deployment of application and infrastructure systems. Experience with release management, environment management, and portfolio and program management best practices. Experience with system testing metrics, best practices, and methodologies. Experience in leading and influencing IT / non-IT staff to adopt testing standards, processes, and controls. Hands-on experience with ad-hoc query programs, automated testing tools, and reporting software. Experience with current release and deployment standards. Knowledgeable of various SDLC / Project Management methodologies (e.g., waterfall, agile). Strong service orientation. Salary is commensurate with experience.
