Job Description

Director of Business Development for powerhouse global law firm in NYC. This position supports the corporate and transactional practices. This role has primary responsibility for strategic direction and operational support of business development activities for transactional practice groups.
Responsibilities include development/execution of go-to-market Business Development campaigns, oversight of industry/sector initiatives, new business generation through sponsorships/events and the creation of compelling pitches and RFP responses.
This role has a team of direct reports assigned to support transactional practices and works closely with senior management to implement marketing plans and facilitate Business Development activities.
Other Responsibilities:
Direct/oversee firmwide business development activities; lead practice group business/marketing plans, identify specific clients, create client presentations, track progress towards defined KPIs.
Direct pitches and RFP responses including lead generation from target companies/individuals and existing clients, and develop compelling proposals for new business.
Facilitate training and coaching for prospective client meetings/presentations.
Manage key client account teams, including targeting, organization, and action plans.
Coordinate centralized lists of target companies developed through work with the practice or industry group marketing and business plans.
Coordinate strategy for business development opportunities associated with the integration of new lateral partners.
Supervise staff performance, provide guidance to ensure enthusiasm, and results from team members.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced Degree a plus.
Law firm of professional services organization Business Development proven success is required. At least 12 years of experience in law firm or similar professional services business development/marketing experience with strong knowledge of transactional practice groups is required. Strong analytical skills required. Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines. Prior supervisory experience and strong writing skills. Strong judgment with a high degree of trustworthiness in handling confidential and sensitive information. Ability to strategically maintain financial/budgetary information. Ability to demonstrate strategic focus. Exceptional client service.
Salary is commensurate with experience $200,000 to $300,000. Base salary will depend on the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, etc.
