Senior Business Analyst for prominent global law firm in Washington, DC. This is a hybrid position with some in-office work.
This role connects business needs and IT team’s technical solutions. This position is responsible for leading analysis for prospective/planned technology solutions, translating business outcomes and capabilities into functional/nonfunctional specifications.
The Senior Business Analyst will engage cross-functional technical and nontechnical stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of IT solution delivery, emphasizing business justification, scoping/sizing, as well as solution design.
Ideal candidate has strong technical competence across a range of technical disciplines ranging from back-end infrastructure to end-user applications, solid analytical skills, and the ability to translate desired business capabilities into simplified requirements for technical teams.
Duties: Leads the capture of business requirements for technology estate, with an active role on IT project teams. Conducts research/analysis for a wide-range of business needs, including: product evaluation, business processes/workflows, root-cause evaluation, data synthesis, process improvement, and product innovation. Develops functional specifications, use cases, and user stories working in partnership with stakeholders. Develops non-functional specifications as needed with the support of Infrastructure/Applications/IT Security engineering. Facilitates workshops, interviews, and meetings to elicit requirements, clarify objectives, and resolve conflicts and knowledge gaps. Supports intake/justification/business case development/scoping new project/technology requests. Supports IT demand management evaluation and planning activities. Escalates items not receiving appropriate attention. Educates other IT staff on best practices and leading standards surrounding business analysis and requirement definition. Informs overall IT change management and communication strategies. Supports definition of service level agreements (SLAs) for new or changed solutions and services to preserve an optimal experience.
Position Requirements: College degree. Master’s degree preferred. 5+ years of relevant experience in a large law firm, comparable professional services organization, or a legal information services provider. Proven success in business analysis for complex technology projects and programs, with experience in technical requirement definition. Experience providing research/supporting analysis of distressed processes/solutions to inform future state solutions. Experience delivering gold-standard documentation in support of solution design, both traditional and creative/intuitive. Experience developing partnerships across technical and non-technical teams. Experience with technology systems common to a large law firm. Proven experience in strategic technology planning. Experience with project and program management disciplines, methodologies, and processes. Familiarity with the functioning of a program management office and governance frameworks. Proven analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to translate data into insights, and to build and maintain strong working relationships and represent the voice of the customer. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Highly self-motivated and directed.
Salary is commensurate with experience 108k 150k.
