OUR CLIENT
The Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital is part of the South Texas Veterans Health System (STVHS) and provides primary care and specialty health services, including mental health care, women’s health services, prosthetics, kidney care and dialysis, dental services, treatment for spinal cord injury, bone marrow transplants, and more

***THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD***

POSITION DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES
The CRNA will perform pre-anesthetic evaluations, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to prepare the anesthesia, plan/deliver all forms of anesthesia, and provide intra- and post-operative anesthesia care to patients. In addition will perform other routine duties to include but not limited to the following:
• Translates the principles of anesthesia practice into appropriate patient care.
• Shall provide comprehensive clinical anesthesiology services including patients undergoing cardiac surgery, orthopedic joint replacement, and major vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, plastic, ENT, urologic, and ophthalmologic operations
• Shall provide clinical care of patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal, and radiological suites
• Shall provide primary coverage for all patients in the surgical intensive care, short stay unit, acute and chronic pain management services, diagnostic trans esophageal echocardiography for medical and surgical patients, and emergency airway management
• Perform the pre-anesthetic patient history and physical, including the collection of preoperative consults and data, performs a patient evaluation and examination from which an appropriate anesthetic plan is formulated.
• Communicate the anesthetic risks, benefits, and alternatives to the patient.
• Prepares the patient, operating room and/or procedural area for the administration of anesthesia.
• Administer inhalation, regional, intravenous, local, and/or topical anesthetics with continuous evaluations of the patient’s physical status and response to anesthesia.
• Performs post-anesthetic management of patients to optimize the recovery from anesthesia and minimize pain.
• Ensures timely and accurate anesthetic record charting and anesthesia service documentation.
• Provides patient care that is abreast of changing concepts and advancements in the profession while working effectively in an interdisciplinary environment for improvement of services and patient care.
• Effectively blends technology, skills, and competency for the advancement of anesthesia techniques, pharmacology, and equipment.
• Applies new developments and theories to recognize and solve various complex anesthesia situations.
• Respond to emergency situations by providing airway management, administration of emergency fluids and medications, and using appropriate resuscitation procedures for patient care.
• Collect and document pertinent data into the electronic patient medical records.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree in nursing or related field
• Graduate of an approved anesthesia program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
• Must be certified with National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)
• Current, unrestricted license with no limitations, stipulations, or pending adverse action, in any state in the United States, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or U.S. Virgin Islands.
• Must possess current BLS through the American Heart Association.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a licensed, board certified CRNA with continuous experience during the last twelve months.
• Must possess experience in the delivery of and monitoring of all types of anesthesia utilized in the delivery of surgical anesthesia (general endotracheal, and IV regional techniques)
• Demonstrates skill in conducting and managing anesthesia for a broad range of surgical procedures and the ability to adapt and modify anesthesia techniques in order to optimize patient care
• Demonstrates the ability to perform the clinical and technical aspects of anesthesia care and has in-depth knowledge of anesthesia methods and techniques
• Ability to critically think, problem solve, and effectively communicate through both writing and speech.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
Demonstrate expertise with Microsoft Office Products
Must be willing to work the following shifts:
o 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. M-F
o 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. M-F
Must be willing to be on call after duty hours and on weekends.
Must be able to work in the U.S. without Sponsorship
